Projects & Practicums

A CTS Project course develops student project design and management skills to extend and enhance competencies and skills in other CTS courses through contexts that are personally relevant.

A CTS Practicum course enables students to apply prior learning and demonstrate the attitudes, skills, knowledge and values required by an external organization to achieve a credential, articulation or credit awarded.

You and your students are invited to attend the many technology and trade programs this year including the Regional Skills Canada Competitions; the Provincial Skills Canada Competition; School tours of Skill City and Try a Trade; the valuable Girls Exploring Trades and Technology Conference as well as PL opportunities for teachers on Provincial Technical Committees. Schools are encouraged to register as a Skills School to receive information on lastest programs, events, scholarships and funding opportunities.

The Spoken Word Festival is bringing the best SLAM and SPOKEN WORD artists to come and visit your school. This opportunity is for grades 7-12 students and their teachers. Presentations include a reading and/or poetry workshop. Artist availability is from Tuesday April 17 - Friday April 20, 2012.

Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame is now open at Canada Olympic Park, featuring 12 galleries with 50 hands-on interactives, a 120-seat theatre, a collection of more than 95,000 artefacts and an Education and Resource Centre where students and teachers can experience our preserved sporting history, celebrate the contribution of sport to society, and be inspired by our nation’s sporting heroes.
News Item Design Exchange - Canadian High School Design Competition
Design Exchange is proud to announce the 17th Annual Sears Canadian High School Design Competition. The aim of the competition is to promote the study and awareness of various design disciplines in schools across Canada. The competition is open to all high school students, at the junior (grades 10 and below) and senior (grades 11 and above) levels. Prizes will be awarded at the two levels, in each of the four categories – Industrial Design, Fashion Design, Architecture / Interior Design, and Graphic Design. Deadline for entries is 5 pm March 30, 2012.
