Haiti Support in RVS

Share your Haiti efforts!

As the world monitoring the events in Haiti and the terrible conditions resulting from the recent earthquake, individuals throughout Rocky View Schools have initiated efforts to support survivors in Haiti. RVS' Collaborative Initiatives Branch invites you to share your school's efforts by sending Nikki Goodman (403.945.4069 / ngoodman@rockyview.ab.ca) your school's fund-raising details so we may share your story on this site! 

Collaborative Initiatives - "RICE PROGRAM"

Collarborative Initiatives also invites your school to support an Orphanage and School in Grande Goave, Haiti.  Located in a rural region, approximately 15 kilometers from the epicenter of the earthquake, the orphanage and school is in need of food and supplies. Through the HEART TO HEART foundation, located in Abbotsford, BC, Rocky View Schools can contribute to Haitian children, students, orphans, and the larger rural community by joining their RICE PROGRAM.

HEART TO HEART has 10 containers located in a shipping yard that must be filled and the cost to ship each container to Haiti is $10,000.  Our efforts to acquire as much long-grain, white rice as possible to ship out to Abbotsford is a great challenge!  Three BC school divisions are also doing the same program & it would be fantastic to proudly contribute a huge Alberta volume to the Haitian Survivors.
