Apply for Homestay    or     Apply to be a Homestay Host Family

Rocky View Schools provides international students with the opportunity to live with a Canadian family during their stay in the jurisdiction. International Students live with reputable and carefully selected English-speaking Canadian homestay families during their stay in Rocky View Schools. Homestay families are responsible for assuming responsibility for the care of the student, providing encouragement and support and acting on behalf of the parent in the case of an emergency. Homestay families provide all meals and a private room that is warm, clean, and that has a study desk.

RVS’ homestay program is managed in cooperation with Canada Homestay International, which provides on-going support to each student, their hosts, their agent, and their school. Canada Homestay International Staff are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to respond to emergencies and other needs.Homestay services provided to International students include:

• the selection of the best host for each student through a careful matching process, which considers the preferences and requests of both the student and the host.  Each match    is confirmed in writing with pictures of the host and a location map;
• the careful screening of each host family through a comprehensive process, which
   involves interviews, a reference check, and a criminal record check;
• the facilitation of the homestay application process by providing online access to all the necessary forms. If needed, personal support can be provided by a Canada Homestay    International counsellor, including custodianship;
• an orientation is provided for students, which includes a warm welcome upon their
   arrival in Canada, and a session that covers tips on how students can make their
   experience in Canada successful with practical pointers such as opening a bank account.

If Homestay is requested for a student under the age of eighteen (18), the Homestay family will agree to assume guardianship responsibilities for the student.  A notarized Custodianship Declaration must be completed by the Homestay parents and parents of the student.
