Provincial Funding Confirmed for School Nutrition Program

Minister of Education Adriana LaGrange recently announced that the Alberta government will continue to fund the School Nutrition Program. The province will allocate $15.5 million for the program this year, keeping it at the same level of funding as last year.

Rocky View Schools (RVS) will receive approximately $161,000 in funding, which will be used to operate the School Nutrition Program (SNP) and provide equipment, food and nutritional education to students and families. As well, RVS' Breakfast Club will utilize a portion of these funds to provide program supervisors to help run the program.

In collaboration with Alberta Health Services, funding through the SNP allows RVS to support its nutrition focus and healthy eating initiatives and provide nourishment to hundreds of students across the jurisdiction, ensuring no one goes hungry.

For further details on the SNP, visit the Government of Alberta website.

Additional questions can be directed to Niki Demyen, RVS' Community Partner Program Coordinator.
