French Immersion
Description/Entry Points
French ImmersionAt Rocky View, French Immersion is more than just a language - it’s a total educational and cultural experience. Beginning in Kindergarten, our French Immersion program allows students with non-French speaking backgrounds the ability to become highly proficient in French, both oral and written. Within the bounds of Alberta Education’s approved curriculum, the program immerses students in the French language and culture through classroom instruction. In Kindergarten to Grade 2, students are instructed mostly in French. More formal English instruction is incorporated in the program at the Grade 3 level to Grade 12 level. Extra-curricular activities, including music, theatre, and dance, create a well-rounded experience for French Immersion students. A kindergarten to Grade 12 program exists in Airdrie, Cochrane, and Springbank. A Kindergarten and Grade 1 program also has been established in Chestermere. |
