Rocky View Schools (RVS) is pleased to share with the public its 2013– 2014 Annual Education Results Report (AERR).

During the 2013 – 2014 school year, RVS continued to create pathways to success for each and every student. With a strong spirit of creativity, innovation, and teamwork underlying the efforts of our school communities, this report helps demonstrate the dedication RVS continues to maintain in helping students surpass expectations and achieve to the best of their ability.

Two important tools that continue to assist our jurisdiction in assessing how effective we are in doing this work are the provincial and jurisdictional accountability pillars. For the 2013-2014 school year, Alberta Education’s pillar revealed “excellent standing” in the areas of high school completion, drop-out rate, and access to program of studies. The jurisdiction also maintained its ratings of good on safe and caring, education quality, acceptable and excellence standards on diploma exams, Rutherford scholarships, transition rate, citizenship and school improvement. Rocky View Schools is incredibly proud of these results, as they point to our success in providing supports to students across the jurisdiction. An area of improvement lies in our students’ achievement on provincial achievement tests, which will be addressed through the formation of a literacy and numeracy task group in 2014-2015.

Rocky View Schools accountability pillar reveals similar results, with an average of 80 or greater attained on 13 out of 15 outcome areas. Outcome areas that have met RVS’ desired target of 90 percent or better include "learning is generative, responsive, and multi-dimensional", with the outcomes "learners use digital technologies to enhance learning", and "instructional design enriches the learning environment" within two percent of reaching RVS' target.

As guided by RVS’ 2011-2015 Four Year Plan, “Building the Power to Enrich”, and strategically aligned School Education Plans, the jurisdiction has consolidated the major initiatives brought on board over the last four years to employ strategies that focus on student-centered learning, flexible, accessible tools and spaces, and targeted learning supports. We anticipate continued success in the 2014 - 2015 school year.

The Board could not be more pleased with our progress to-date. Similar to our 2012-2013 AERR, in celebration of our success, this year’s AERR offers you more than just a statistical recount of our success. We hope you’ll take the time to review the showcase we’ve put together that highlights the many initiatives and projects that are helping us achieve our goals. By clicking on each of the graphics presented in the box to the right and on subsequent goal pages, you will be re-directed to a digital asset that demonstrates how we are achieving our results.
