“During our time at R.J. Hawkey Elementary School we have been very fortunate to have had extremely dedicated teachers who have a genuine desire to make a difference in young people’s lives. The administrators, teachers, and support staff are extremely approachable and work hard to build relationships with students and families from various backgrounds and diverse educational needs. The quality education and constant support my children have received at R.J. has provided a solid foundation for their future academic and personal success.” Cathy K.
"R.J. Hawkey is a wonderful school. The passion and commitment of the teachers shines through each time my children come home and can't wait to tell me about a new and exciting project. My children are engaged and happy and that makes me happy!" Cindy L.
How do we define success for R.J. students?
Successful students demonstrate their ability to think critically and creatively. They show their ability to problem solve and collaborate. Successful students are innovative and globally aware. At R.J. Hawkey, our students have the opportunity to pursue activities that reflect their personal interests in a manner that prepares them for the 21st Century. They learn how to care and respect each other and treat others fairly. They strive for personal excellence through an innovative and creative learning environment. They demonstrate pride and ownership within the school building and in the community.
What makes our school good and how do we know?
At R.J. Hawkey School we strive to provide a collaborative, caring, creative environment in which children explore their individual growth and passion for learning, preparing them for change and future challenges. Our school is a community in which all stakeholders are encouraged to work in collaboration, supporting and challenging one another. Rich in history and culture, the school is ever evolving to meet the needs of the 21st Century learner. Stakeholders rated our achievement high in all areas of the 2011 Accountability Pillar survey, to which we are quite pleased. We will continue working to maintain and increase these results in the coming school year.
