Quotes from Parent Advocates

“As a parent of students at Chestermere High School I found the office staff very helpful when registering children. The Teaching Staff and Support Staff are all here for three reasons – to help the students achieve their goals, to become the best they can be and to become model citizens. The location of the school is ideal as the younger students are not allowed to roam the town at breaks or noon; therefore parents can rest easier knowing their children are in a safe and caring environment.”

“My daughters enrolled at Chestermere High less than two years ago. The Chestermere High Staff are very enjoyable to work with. Both my kids said that all the teachers were willing to give them help any time they needed it. My daughters enjoyed making friends at the school. The youngest who is entering grade twelve is really looking forward to finishing her high school at Chestermere. The administrative staff is by far the best I have worked with.”

How do we define success for Chestermere High students?

We define success in a variety of ways such as the student’s high level of confidence in understanding concepts, exhibiting self-advocacy and self-reliance. We pride ourselves on being effective communicators. Success is defined by achieving acceptable and above average results on assessments and standardized tests, especially our grade 9 students. We make appropriate choices when provided the opportunity. We focus on emotional growth that centers on awareness of self and others, and on building open trusting relationships.

What makes our school good and how do we know?

Chestermere is a “Four A" school. We have students who attain high levels of academic achievement as evidenced by the high graduation, participation and completion rates on provincial exams. There is more personal contact between staff and students at all levels. Discipline notices are tracked and disrespect between students and staff has a very low incident rate. There is a broad range of activities and programs that students participate in. The band program is large; the extracurricular sports program has one of the highest participation rates in the school division and students are very respectful at large school assemblies and activities. Parents have commented that our school is more attentive and the communication given to families and students is more than at other schools.
