Quotes from Parent Advocates
“I vividly remember standing out front of Crossfield Elementary School with my then 3 year old son, saying that pretty soon he was “going to the big boys’ school.” He is now approaching Grade 5, but that memory seems like it just happened yesterday. The time has flown for us, only because our experience at CES has been such a positive and rewarding one. The transition to elementary school was seamless. We simply can not say enough about the teachers and administrators who have come into our lives and provided my children with invaluable life and academic lessons, and seemingly unlimited opportunities, which have far exceeded our expectations. Indeed, CES has become an extension of our family and we are extremely satisfied with the culture, quality of education, resources, opportunities, and relationships that have been afforded to us through CES. My children have been given tools for success at a very early age, and for that we are very grateful. We are blessed to be part of the CES community.” Dawn
“When I walk into the school building, the atmosphere is always positive – students are smiling, teachers are friendly, front office staff are usually laughing about something, parents are volunteering in classrooms or with small groups of kids in the hallways. CES is a cheerful place. I love seeing kids using laptops for projects, talking about how they use SMART boards in their classrooms, bringing home cool websites that they used for Math class, hearing that they Skyped a class in another country – how cool is that!?! It makes me happy to know that my kids are being taught what they need to know in this 21st Century world. I appreciate the teachers and staff of CES so much! Their love and care for the students is so apparent. They seem to carry with them the small-town values held dear in our community and they want to not only teach, but to model these values to our children. When I talk with moms of other communities and compare schools, I cannot help but know that we have one of the best schools in the province right here in our little town. I am proud to have my kids attend Crossfield Elementary School!” Cobi

How do we define success for Crossfield students?
Success is being aware of students’ needs and removing obstacles so that all students are available for learning. Having high expectations for all students and staff, being deliberate in instruction, and using assessment to improve student learning and teacher performance results in 21st Century learners who are effective, resilient citizens, actively engaged in their learning.
What makes our school good and how do we know?
The positive relationships between staff, students, parents, and community make our school a wonderful and inviting place to be. With our students at the center of every decision, through every professional learning opportunity, and every pedagogical conversation, we are successful in creating a vibrant, engaging learning atmosphere, focused on meeting the needs of the whole-child, preparing them for a future we can only imagine. Our school results from Alberta Education’s Accountability Pillar indicate strong satisfaction from parents, students and teachers, consistently exceeding the provincial average. We are proud that 95% of respondents believe that our school is safe and caring and provides high quality educational programming for our students. 92% of respondents believe that we are doing a great job of teaching our children to model the characteristics of active citizenship. These results confirm that we are on the right track and our efforts are very successful!
