Quotes from Parent Advocates

“Prince of Peace school is like a small community, where all the teachers and staff know each child, and make a special effort to foster and enhance the God-given talents and qualities in each child. The school goes above and beyond our expectations to ensure a respectful and comfortable learning environment. The school's efforts to keep parents
informed of all school events and initiatives is outstanding. The use of 21st Century technology as a support to both the student and families is excellent. As a parent, I feel very welcome to approach my son's teachers and any of the staff members to discuss any topic, and feel engaged in my son’s learning path. I would like to express my sincere appreciation for all the extra efforts that everyone involved in Prince of Peace School puts forth on a daily basis to make our school an outstanding academic facility.” G.B., Parent of a Grade 2 student

“We send our children to Prince of Peace because it is an environment of like-minded parents, students and teachers. Our children enjoy the benefits of the smaller class sizes. The school celebrates Christmas and our children have the ability to practice our Christian beliefs. We also really appreciate the unparalleled commitment of school faculty to the well being of students and their families - educationally, morally and spiritually.” J.H., Parent of students in Kindergarten and Grade 1

How do we define success for Prince of Peace students?

Students are successful when they recognize themselves as learners and leaders on a journey; engage in meaningful, authentic learning experiences that build deep understandings of God and the world; and find joy in the growth that comes through that learning journey. Success is not fully realized, however, until they discover that God has a plan for them through Jesus to be in relationship with Him and to positively contribute to their relationships and communities by using their time, gifts, talents and resources to help and serve others. We are successful as a school when we meet all children where they are at and lead them to be the best they can be, helping them achieve their full potential and providing them with engaging experiences that lead to an eager enjoyment of learning and an ability to be critical, creative thinkers. We are successful when we introduce all students to Jesus Christ and, as the Holy Spirit allows, help them grow in the Christian faith and
develop lives that reflect that faith in loving service toward others.

What makes our school good and how do we know?

At Prince of Peace we know who we are and what we believe, and we work hard to ensure our practice is aligned with our identity and mission. This means that we are committed to students and their families and nurture those relationships. We constantly look at how we can engage students in both their learning and faith development. We seek to provide a variety of experiences for students to develop their God-given gifts and talents, constantly seeking to integrate faith with life. We know we are succeeding as a school because we see this vision reflected back to us daily in the lives of students and their families. In more tangible ways, we can mark our success as a school through the parent satisfaction surveys which show an extremely high level of satisfaction with all areas of the program and the fact that we had 98% (238 or 243) of students re-register for the coming school year, a remarkable percentage for a school of choice such as ours. Finally, as is indicated in our Annual Results Report, we see high levels of satisfaction among our parents, our academic results reflected in our PAT results are showing a trend of improvement, and our school’s results in both provincial and divisional accountability reports are very high.
