Enriching learning experiences through instructional design

To build teachers' capacity in effective instructional design, Rocky View Schools has created an Instructional Design Planning Framework that is focused on authentic inquiry-based learning. Currently being piloted in 12 schools, this framework has proven to successfully engage and challenge learners through meaningful, constructivist-inspired learning practices.

RVS' Instructional Design Planning Framework incorporates all three tenets of the jurisdiction's Learning Model and provides a practical, easy-to-use planning guide aimed at providing teachers with a means of developing Universal Learning Environments. To be supported by a repository of inquiry-based resources, it helps teachers engage students in authentic inquiry studies that reflect the work of the living discipline.

RVS invites educational stakeholders to learn of the Instructional Design Planning Framework by accessing a communiqué on inquiry-based learning, which explores RVS' efforts in creating Universal Learning Environments through instructional design.
