First Ride Program
First Ride Program - A program for first time bus riders
Rocky View Schools is pleased to welcome your child to the experience of riding on the school bus. As we want this to be a happy and rewarding time for both you and your child, we invite you to take part in the informative "First Ride Program", a school bus safety program for first time bus riders.
This FREE program for students is provided by the Rocky View Schools in partnership with our bus contractors, to educate parents and children on how to ride the school bus safely.
What Can You Expect
The following format for the "First Ride Program" will be as followed:
1. Program starts promptly at 6:30 pm.
2. Topics covered in the presentation include:
- Bus Driver responsibility
- Parent responsibility
- Student responsibility
- School Board responsibility
- School bus facts and information
- Safety rules on and around the bus
3. View a Winnie the Pooh school bus safety video.
4. Go for a short bus ride to review safe loading, unloading and bus riding procedures.
"First Ride" is a positive learning experience for you and your child. This program gives parents and students a basic understanding of safety, rules, and procedures on the school bus. We hope you will be able to take part in the "First Ride Program".
2012-13 First Ride Dates/Location
Urban Students - August 14, 2012
Rural Students - August 15, 2012
The program will be held at Bert Church School in Airdrie, located at 1010 East Lake Boulevard, both evenings.
Both nights programs will begin at 6:30p and are approximately 1hr.
