A New Fiscal Reality

Given the provincial government has projected its education budget will not increase in the near future, Rocky View Schools (RVS) is looking to its communities to help adjust its operations to the new provincial fiscal reality through its 2020 Budget Consultation.

Two surveys are planned to be administered between February 10 and March 30. The first survey is being conducted prior to the provincial budget being tabled and will ask families and residents to help identify budget priorities, cost-saving measures and revenue-generating ideas. The second survey will launch after the provincial budget is announced and will look for stakeholders to provide input into how RVS will balance its budget to support students.

As a Board, we remain committed to providing students with the world-class education system our families have come to expect from RVS. We encourage you to participate in the following consultation process:

February 10 to 24, 2020 - Survey 1

Activity: Survey 1, Budget Priorities (Now Closed)

Purpose: To identify stakeholder budget priorities, cost-saving measures and revenue generation ideas.

March 10 - 30, 2020 - Survey 2

Activity: Survey 2, Balancing RVS' Budget (Now Closed)

Purpose: To seek input into how RVS should balance its budget

Results of Survey: To be released May 21, 2020

May 21, 2020 - Board Consideration

Activity: Board of Trustees Public Meeting

Purpose: To review and communicate feedback received through the consultation process as it prepares to deliberate and approve a balanced budget to government by May 31, 2020.

Location: Wildrose A & B, RVS' Education Centre (2651 Chinook Winds Drive, SW, Airdrie, AB)

Time: 10 am
