All Schools Move Online Starting Friday, May 7
Today (May 4) the Government of Alberta announced that all students Kindergarten to Grade 12 province-wide will temporarily shift to at home learning as part of new COVID-19 restrictions. This means that all RVS schools will move to temporary at-home learning starting Friday, May 7, 2021, under our Scenario 3 Plan. At-home learning will continue until Tuesday, May 25.
Parent Letter - May 3, 2021
Last week, the Government of Alberta announced that Grade 7 to 12 students attending in-person classes in “hot spot regions” will be temporarily taught at home online as part of new COVID-19 restriction and that the schools impacted can change as case counts in communities increase or decrease. Aligned with government’s announcement today, May 3, 2021, all RVS schools with students in Grades 7 to 12 will move to temporary at-home learning starting Tuesday, May 4, 2021, under our Scenario 3 Plan.

2020 Terry Fox Run Fundraising
Rocky View Schools is pleased to highlight recent fundraising efforts by students in the school division. Through participation in the 2020 Terry Fox Run, students at 42 schools in locations including Airdrie, Beiseker, Bragg Creek, Chestermere, Cochrane, Crossfield, Langdon and Springbank, raised a total of $47,621.62 for cancer research.

RVS to Provide Feedback on Government’s Draft K-6 Curriculum Without Participating in Pilot
RVS' Board of Trustees and Administration have determined a path forward with the draft Kindergarten – Grade 6 curriculum released by the Government of Alberta on March 29, 2021. Given the reality that the pandemic will continue to impact schools well into the 2021/22 school year and the burden this creates for teachers and students, RVS has decided not to pilot the draft curriculum in classrooms.

Supporting Our Students as They Transition Back Inside Schools or Online
Rocky View Schools (RVS) provided families with the option to switch their child’s learning method part-way through the 2020/21 school year. We understand it will be an adjustment for those students re-entering schools or moving to online learning for the first time this February.

RVS has created a guide outlining additional information on what parents and students can expect as well as how they will be supported throughout this temporary online learning period (Nov. 30 - Jan. 8).
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration for the 2021/22 school year opens Jan. 18.
Parent Letter - Jan 8
The period to decide the learning method (in-school or online) for students in Grades 1 to 9* this spring is quickly approaching. SchoolEngage will open at 8 a.m. on Jan. 11. Families will have until 5 p.m. on Jan. 15 to commit your child to a learning method from Feb. 8, 2021, until the end of the school year. If no selection is made, those students will remain in their current learning method.

Given the current transition many Rocky View Schools (RVS) families are experiencing this week as Grades 7 to 12 students move to temporary at-home online learning, we are extending the deadline for families to decide if they will change their child’s learning method (in-school or online). This change would be effective Feb. 1, 2021 and students would be committed to that mode of schooling for the remainder of the school year.
