New school bus riders and their parents have a new resource at hand with “How to Ride the School Bus.”
The short video shows students and their parents/guardians what to expect when taking the school bus for the first time. Viewers can follow the students as they board the bus, ride the bus to school, and return home. Safety tips such as avoiding the bus danger zone are discussed, along with important information all bus riders should know.

RVS is also hosting My First Ride, an in-person event for new bus riders presented by RVS bus contractors. Families are welcome to attend the free event on Aug. 22 or 23 to learn more about school buses and take a short ride on a bus. Bus contractor and school division staff will be on hand to answer any questions. The events will take place at the RVS Education Centre, 2651 Chinook Winds Drive SW, Airdrie. - Aug. 22 at 6:00 p.m.: Students who live in rural areas
- Aug. 23 at 6:00 p.m.: Students who live in urban areas (i.e. Airdrie, Chestermere, Cochrane)
Remember, Aug. 15 is the last day to register for transportation in time to have bus service on the first day of school.
