RVS Statement Regarding Charges Against Staff Member
Posted onThe following statement is provided by Greg Luterbach, Superintendent of Schools
Rocky View Schools (RVS) was made aware a staff member was being investigated by RCMP when they were taken into custody on Jan. 21. RCMP advised us Tim Bailey, a Grade 10/11/12 Math teacher at Springbank Community High School, was charged on Jan. 22 with child luring; making sexually explicit material available to a child; and sexual exploitation.
We can confirm Bailey has been employed with RVS since 2003 and has worked at Springbank Community High School throughout his employment with RVS. RCMP have the school and the division’s full cooperation in their investigation. RVS has placed Bailey on unassigned duties and he is prohibited from being on any Rocky View School property at any time effective immediately. We cannot provide further information as the matter is subject to an ongoing criminal investigation.
We take these charges very seriously and will be working closely with Springbank Community High School to support them through this challenging situation. School-based and divisional supports will be available for students at Springbank Community High School for as long as they may need them.
We also recognize the impact this has on all our dedicated staff who work hard to make a positive difference in the lives of our students. Division staff are present at the school and staff are encouraged to access RVS’ Employee and Family Assistance Program for additional support.
