LEGO®-Peer Mentoring - Social Skills
K-12 Classroom Teachers Supporting Complex Students are encouraged to attend. Working individually is often how many people see the value of LEGO®. LEGO®-also has an inherent and rewarding way of bringing people together. In this session you will learn how the work of LEGO®-Based therapy, Dr. Eric Carter, and, in particular, the work from the Peer Partner Project can be used together in a meaningful and engaging way for ALL students and ALL ages. We will dive into knowledge of belonging, access to the general curriculum, ties to STEMS, the Alberta Program of Studies, adolescent friendships and peer relationships for students with significant disabilities. Farm Safety Day at the Calgary Stampede - May 16, 2017
Farm Safety Day welcomes Grade 6 to 9 classes from across Alberta to attend this FREE day of learning aimed at enhancing students’ awareness and understanding of rural and farm safety. Students will have access to interactive activities and information stations on a variety of topics including livestock safety, equipment safety, working with electricity, distracted driving, ATVing, first aid and more. Pre-registration by March 31, 2017 is required to secure your spot. Funding is also available to assist with bussing costs. Partner Research in Schools Conference 2017
August 24 & 25, 2017 at the University of Calgary. Partner research in schools is a visionary approach that invites collaboration between schools, school authorities, communities, and university to build research capacity, provide opportunities for classroom and pre-service teachers to work with universities on research, and creates the condition for more sharing across systems.
