LAUNCH Youth Leadership Summit Opportunity
The “Launch Youth Leadership Summit” will focus on helping teens discover who they are as an individual, and introduce the concepts of effective communication, teamwork, and goal setting, paired with building skills for self-assessment, confidence, gratitude and personal and social accountability. "Launch" will be hosting 300 students, along with their chaperones during the 3rd week of May 2016 in London, Ontario.
Future Goals - Hockey Scholar Program
The Future Goals-Hockey Scholar program is a new science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) online resource that is available to schools in your district at NO COST. Through various hockey simulations, students will gain an understanding of the real world application of science and math concepts while developing scientific and critical thinking skills AND learning about career opportunities in related fields.
2016/17 Provincial Achievement Test Schedule
To assist boards with planning for the upcoming school year, the Ministry of Education released a schedule for Grades 6 and 9 Provincial Achievement Tests, Feb. 17, which will be a regular administration for 2016/2017.
Corporate Email Migration
On Mar. 24, 2016, Rocky View Schools will be moving to a new email system – Outlook Exchange. In preparation, all staff members are asked to ensure their email boxes and archives have been swept clean of “unwanted emails” and that critical attachments have been downloaded onto their site’s network or local drive by noon, Monday Feb. 8, 2016.

Grid Level to be Reported on Teacher Pay Statements
Beginning in February, all teachers will be able to see their grid level on the top right corner of their pay statements, as outlined below.
Snowshoe program available for students
A CPAWS SAB interpretive guide will take students snowshoeing on trails in Brown Lowery Provincial Park and Peter Lougheed Provincial Park during February and March. The programs link to science-based courses in the Alberta Learning Curriculum for grade 4 to 12 students.
One Day @ UCalgary
These popular single-day courses, held at the University’s main campus from 9 am to 4 pm, provide some of the best teaching and learning that UCalgary has to offer. Only $75 + GST per course. Held Saturdays, starting Jan. 16 and running through until May 14.
New Schools / Attendance Boundary Changes
In 2016 RVS will open three new schools - two in Airdrie and one in Cochrane. As well RVS will change school attendance boundaries in these two communities to accommodate their opening.
