The RVS Learning Management System

Moodle is RVS' Learning Management System (LMS). Supplementing regular classroom instruction, this online teaching space facilitates student learning, any time, any place, any path, and any pace. Teachers use Moodle to deliver content to students, interact in and outside of class time, and assess learning using assignments or quizzes. It features a variety of activity modules such as forums, databases, and wikis. It also can be used to create spaces where educators and support staff can collaborate and share resources for specific subject matters.

Technical Requirements

Firefox is the preferred browser, especially for editing, but Safari, Internet Explorer or Chrome can be used for viewing the courses. Moodle operates much the same way on both Windows and Mac computers. A good thing for schools with personally owned devices (PODs).

Accounts & Passwords

Students and teachers access Moodle through RVS' LDAP system, which provides a seamless login interface among RVS technologies. With LDAP, students log in using the same username ( and password they have for their rvschools email. Teachers use their Novell username and password. Problems with log in should be directed to school technologists.

Students and teachers can be added to existing courses manually by teachers or can be given an enrollment key to self enroll. Courses are created by the school tech or a Moodle administrator.
