A Focus on Healthy Eating

Rocky View Schools (RVS) recognizes the importance of daily nutrition and believes that healthy eating is a key component in achieving success.

Promoting Healthy Eating in Schools

Research has proven a link between healthy eating and student learning and performance. Because of this, RVS adheres to the principles outlined in the current version of the Alberta Nutrition Guidelines for Children and Youth and Eating Well with Canada's Food Guide and promotes the consumption of nutritious and dentally-acceptable foods in all of its schools.

Partners in Health and Nutrition

Thanks to support from Alberta Education's School Nutrition Grant Program and a variety of national and local partners, RVS is able to provide nourishment to hundreds of students across the jurisdiction, ensuring no one goes hungry. With programs like G.E.A.R., Snack Attack, Fuel 4 Kids and RVS' Food For Thought, students have access to healthy and nutritious foods in a secure environment. This enhances their ability to concentrate and learn, while also supporting a positive classroom environment for both students and teachers.

A big thanks to organizations such as the Breakfast Clubs of Canada, President Choice's Children's Charity, the Airdrie Rotary, the Cochrane Activettes, the Cochrane Lions, COBS Bread, Quest Orthodontics Airdrie and local food banks for their ongoing support.
