Visitor/Guest/Provider Letter - Important Changes in RVS Schools and Facilities

Dear RVS contractors, service providers, community use individuals/groups, visitors, volunteers, and practicum students, Rocky View Schools (RVS) wants to make you aware of important changes that will take place in all our schools and facilities soon.

In alignment with the Government of Alberta’s request of the school system, beginning Jan. 3, 2022, RVS will require proof of COVID-19 immunization or a recent negative COVID-19 rapid test result for all adults who are NOT students in RVS in order to enter our schools or facilities. This is a necessary step to continue to keep the 26,600+ students in our care safe and in school, and to protect our 2,600+ staff.

RVS has prepared Administrative Procedure 173 – COVID-19 Hazard Reduction, which outlines the specifics of this new requirement. We ask all parents/guardians, staff, visitors, contractors, service providers, community use individuals/groups, and practicum students, to review the full administrative procedure.

Important information from the Administrative Procedure for volunteers, visitors, contractors/service providers, post-secondary institutions, community use groups:

  • Date for the requirement is Jan. 3, 2022.
  • The administrative procedure requires individuals 18 years or older who are NOT students in RVS to EITHER show proof of being fully immunized OR provide a recent negative COVID-19 rapid test result. A person is considered fully immunized after 14 days have passed since they received the second dose in a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine series.
  • Proof of immunization will be demonstrated via the Government of Alberta’s QR code (available via, along with your ID.
  • Proof of negative COVID-19 test will need to be recorded in a written or printed copy that clearly outlines the type of test, the date and time of sample collection, a clear indication of a negative result and the pharmacy/laboratory that completed the test. Proof of rapid testing remains valid for 72 hours from the time and date of the test. At home tests will not be accepted.
  • Contractors/service providers, post-secondary institutions and community use groups are responsible for ensuring those they send/allow into an RVS facility comply with the requirements outlined in the administrative procedure and can demonstrate that all those 18 years of age or older and NOT students in RVS who entered the facility complied.
  • RVS students are NOT required to show proof of immunization or proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
  • Proof of COVID-19 immunization or a negative rapid test result is NOT required for individuals who are in the school/facility office briefly to drop off/pick up items or drop off/pick up children.
  • This administrative procedure is temporary and will be re-evaluated when the government and medical authorities no longer support the identification of COVID-19 as a workplace hazard and/or a minimum of every six months, or as deemed necessary.

We understand this may introduce additional process for some of our partners/users of RVS facilities. We thank you for your ongoing cooperation with this administrative procedure and existing requirements for working with us and/or visiting our schools and sites.

Please direct any questions to the RVS department/staff member you are working with.
