Public Consultation About the New School in Langdon

Posted on

Rocky View Schools (RVS) is hosting a public consultation and online engagement to assist in formally deciding the grade configuration and attendance area of its new school in Langdon.

The school is set to open in September 2024 and has been planned as a junior/senior high school. This will likely change attendance boundaries in the future for Chestermere High School and grade configurations of Sarah Thompson School, Langdon School and Indus School.

Parents/guardians and community members are invited to provide their input at the following meeting:

  • May 2 at Langdon School (17 Brander Avenue N.W., Langdon) from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Feedback may also be provided online beginning May 2 through RVSEngage.com. All feedback must be received by May 25 at 5 p.m. The Board will use this information to help determine an accommodation plan for the new school.

Stakeholders will have the opportunity to present to the Board at its public meeting on May 25 at 10 a.m. (please see Board Policy 7 – Board Operations (Section 7))

  • Location/Time: RVS Education Centre, 2651 Chinook Winds Drive S.W., Airdrie or online via Zoom at https://rockyview.zoom.us/my/rvsboard.
  • Requests to present must be submitted no later than May 19, c/o Greg Luterbach, Superintendent of Schools, at 2651 Chinook Winds Dr., Airdrie, T4B 0B4 or suptoffice@rockyview.ab.ca.

The Board will consider the accommodation plan for the school in Langdon at its public meeting on June 15 (subject to change). A notice will be issued to all stakeholders regarding any decision following the public meeting.
