Free Summer Programming for All Families in RVS Communities

Get ready for a summer of fun, connection and growth! Our free RVS Mental Health Capacity Building (MHCB) universal summer programming offers exciting experiential opportunities for children, youth and families to build knowledge and skills that support social and emotional wellbeing. From creative activities to outdoor adventures, our programs are designed to be inclusive, engaging and enriching for all families in our communities.  

This year, registration is easier than ever through SchoolEngage and while we’re using a new system, our programs remain open to everyone, no matter what school you go to. Come join us and make this summer one to remember!

How do I register for a summer program?

Most registration is done through SchoolEngage. You can log in using your existing account or create a new one if needed. Follow the prompts to select and register for your chosen programs.

Do I need to be part of Rocky View Schools to participate?

No; our RVS MHCB summer programs are open to all families in RVS communities, regardless of if you attend a school within Rocky View Schools

Do I need to register for the programs?

Some programs require registration in advance and some are drop-in; this is listed in the course information.

Is there a cost to participate?

No, all summer programs are free of charge as part of our universal mental health programming.

What kinds of activities are offered?

We offer a variety of fun and engaging activities focused on building social-emotional skills, fostering connection and supporting overall wellbeing. Each program is different, so check the descriptions for details!

Can I register for more than one program?

Yes! Families are welcome to register for multiple programs, as long as space is available.

What if I have trouble using SchoolEngage?

When will I receive confirmation of my registration?

You will receive a confirmation email with registration information once your application has been processed.

Are the programs drop-off or do parents stay?

Some programs are family-based and require a parent or caregiver to attend, while others are drop-off. Program descriptions will indicate the expectations.

Airdrie

Artistic Flow

A free mindful expressive art and experiential yoga program. Learn and practice inclusive poses, stretching, breathwork, relaxation and movement to reduce worry and to increase coping skills and resiliency for everyday stressors. No experience necessary and all materials are supplied, but you can bring your own yoga mat and water bottle if you wish.

This youth-focused program will provide participants the opportunity to engage in cooperative activities, mindful expressive arts and collaborative games while building a sense of self, community and healthy relationships. This free family and community "Stay and Play" experiential art activity, inspired by kintsugi, uses creative clay-based expression to support emotional wellbeing and self-discovery. Participants engage in mindful art-making that explores themes of imperfection, resilience and transformation — promoting relaxation, reducing stress and building self-worth. Guided by facilitators, the session offers a safe, inclusive space to connect with oneself, family and community, strengthening mental health and bonds with others through the beauty of repair and renewal.

This free family "Stay and Play" experiential bowling activity promotes mental and emotional well-being through physical activity, creative play and strong community connections. Bowling offers a fun, low-pressure way to get moving — boosting mood, reducing stress and improving focus. Participants engage in mindful, team-based activities that encourage self-expression, build self-esteem and support emotional regulation. Supported by experienced facilitators, this inclusive program creates a safe, supportive space for individuals and families to connect, build resilience and strengthen both mental and physical health through shared movement, laughter and meaningful social interaction.

Join us for our family-friendly scavenger hunt designed to spark curiosity, connection and calm in nature. Move through themed zones filled with animals, sensory challenges and playful mindfulness activities — perfect for most ages!

Spending time outdoors and practicing mindfulness can reduce stress, boost mood and strengthen family bonds. This experience encourages families to slow down, notice the little things and feel more grounded — together.

Mindful Readers

Mindful Readers is an engaging, story-based program that nurtures emotional well-being through mindfulness, movement, art and play. Each session uses carefully chosen books to spark conversations about feelings, empathy and resilience. Children explore emotions, build self-awareness and connect with others in a supportive, inclusive space and creative expression.

Langdon Youth Drop-In

This youth-focused program will provide participants the opportunity to engage in collaborative and cooperative activities and games while building a sense of self, community and healthier relationships. These youth sessions encourage social interaction, teamwork and communication skills as players work together to achieve common goals or solve challenges. These foster a sense of belonging and community, cohesion reducing isolation and feelings of loneliness.
