Cochrane High School recently celebrated a Gr. 12 student for receiving commendation in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship program.

Awarding Academic Achievement

Cochrane High School Gr. 12 student, Shanna Peper has recently been named a Commended Student in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship program. To signify this achievement, Shanna will receive a Letter of Commendation from the school and the National Merit Scholarship Program. RVS congratulates Shanna on her exemplary performance during these exams and acknowledges the determination and immense effort she has put forth.

Since 1955, the National Merit Scholarship program has offered an academic competition allowing students to compete for recognition and scholarships. Each year, approximately 1.5 million students enter the competition with only two per cent (34,000) earning the title Commended Students.

Although Commended Students do not continue through in the 2020 competition for the National Merit Scholarship awards, some of these students do become candidates for Special Scholarships sponsored by corporations and businesses.
