School and Family Communication

Posted on

As we begin the new school year, Rocky View Schools (RVS) has some important reminders about school and family communication.

We are committed to sharing information about what is happening in your child’s classroom, at school and across the division. This is shared through classroom emails, parent/teacher conferences, school newsletters, division and school websites, social media, emails from RVS and more.

SMS/text messaging to parents/guardians will be used for timely information (e.g. school closures) from RVS and your child’s school. Please consider opting in to receive these messages.

We believe students achieve their greatest success when we work together. Teachers and administrators are committed to communicating with families. If you have questions about your child’s learning the best place to start is by contacting your child’s teacher. Under normal circumstances, school employees will respond within 24 hours on school days or by the end of the following workday if received on a holiday/weekend. Across RVS we do not expect employees to respond to emails after 6 p.m. or on holidays/weekends. We provide this direction through Administrative Procedure 145 – Electronic Communication

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. Together, we can create a supportive environment that benefits our students’ learning and growth.

Land Acknowledgment

Rocky View Schools would like to acknowledge the land and recognize all the Indigenous Peoples whose footprints have marked these lands from time immemorial. Together, we can learn and honour the Ways of Knowing of Indigenous Peoples for all future generations.
