Board of Trustees Recognize RancheView School

RancheView School Teacher Amanda Klager and Acting Assistant Principal Cody Kempster were recognized by Trustees for their Local Living Project, an initiative that saw Gr. 7 students learning how to live and source locally, while fulfilling learning outcomes tied to the Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, Math and Career and Technology Foundations curricula.

Students created structures/containers to hold a plant and applied woodworking, ceramics or sewing skills to their projects. With the intention of selling their creations at the Cochrane Farmers' Market, students also were required to consider the source and cost of the materials used.

Connecting Students to Their Passions, Interest and People

This initiative supports engaging and authentic hands-on learning experiences. By intentionally designing learning activities that connect students to what and who they care about, teachers expand learning beyond the classroom and support them in understanding why their learning matters and how it can make a difference.
