Nominations for Board of Trustees Close Soon

Posted on

The last day to put your name forward as a candidate for the Rocky View Schools (RVS) Board of Trustees is a week away. Nomination papers must be filed with RVS’ Returning Officer, Michelle Groff by noon on Sept. 22 at the RVS Education Centre (2651 Chinook Winds Dr. S.W., Airdrie). Trustee elections are held in conjunction with the Oct. 20 municipal elections.

School board trustees elected on Oct. 20 will serve a four-year term, holding office until the next general election in October 2029. Trustees are responsible for staying connected with the community to understand and reflect citizen values and priorities in their decision-making. The RVS Board of Trustees is committed to fostering an open and transparent education system while fulfilling its legislated duties of setting direction, allocating resources and monitoring and reporting on student and operational achievements. Their work is guided by the priorities, goals and outcomes set in RVS’ four-year strategic plan.

RVS’ eight-member Board of Trustees represents five wards, urban and rural, and the interests of more than 29,200 students at 53 schools and 3,000 staff. The division is shaped like a horseshoe around the west, north and east boundaries of the City of Calgary. Visit the Trustee Election webpage for more information about the division and about running for a seat on RVS’ Board of Trustees.

All questions regarding the 2025 Trustee Election should be sent to Groff by email or 403-863-6693.
