Parent Letter: Graduation Update May 13, 2021

RVS has made the difficult but necessary decision that all schools across Rocky View Schools will proceed with virtual only graduations.

May 13, 2021

Dear Grade 12 students and families,

Today I have made the difficult but necessary decision that all schools across Rocky View Schools will proceed with virtual only graduations.

We waited as long as possible to see if even small in-person events could be safely held. Given the ongoing COVID-19 concerns and restrictions, even small in-person celebrations are not possible. As such, schools will have to celebrate our graduates with virtual and online celebrations along with various keepsakes.

The Class of 2021 has endured it all: change, isolations, health concerns, online classes, and so much more. This is not the graduation our students have worked for, planned, and dreamed of. We know they deserve so much more. Family members will not have the opportunity to celebrate their child’s accomplishments in the typical manner either.

Our schools have been planning for a variety of possibilities and will work hard to make the virtual graduation one that can be remembered and celebrated. We will ensure our graduands are appreciated in meaningful ways.

Our school administration and grad committees will now focus solely on creating wonderful virtual celebrations. Please stay tuned for further details on your school’s recognition of the Class of 2021.

Sincerely,

Greg Luterbach
Superintendent of Schools
