Parent Letter May 2 - Mitford School Moves Online

Mitford School students will move to temporary at-home learning starting May 3.

May 2, 2021

Dear Mitford School Parents/Guardians,

With the emerging situation at Mitford School related to the impact of COVID-19, Rocky View Schools (RVS) recently requested and received approval from Alberta Education to temporarily move all Mitford School students to temporary at-home learning starting Monday, May 3. Mitford School students will remain online through Friday, May 14 with in-school classes resuming on Monday, May 17.

The nature of recent positive cases impacting Mitford School requires almost every staff member to isolate as close contacts creating significant operational issues. Given the high number of staff and students required to isolate, moving all students temporarily online allows for the greatest continuity of learning. Students will be provided with a weekly learning plan and regular opportunities to connect with their teachers and classmates through online video sessions. Students and families will be contacted prior to Monday, May 3, by the school with more details about how learning will be supported during this temporary at-home period.

We appreciate the challenges that this temporary shift to at-home learning may cause and we thank all our students, families and staff for your patience and cooperation as we work through the challenges and shifts of the evolving pandemic.

RVS looks forward to welcoming all our Mitford School students back to school face-to-face on Monday, May 17.
