March 13, 2020, COVID-19 Update

As circumstances and Alberta Health Services decisions surrounding COVID-19 continue to evolve, Rocky View Schools is working diligently to respond to events as they unfold.

Jurisdiction Continues to Monitor and Evaluate COVID-19 Pandemic

Given the evolving COVID-19 pandemic, a follow-up parent letter was sent out today to communicate Rocky View Schools' COVID-19 update. All decisions have been made at the recommendation of Alberta Health Services. Highlights of the letter include:

  • Cancelling all field trips until further notice;
  • Directing all staff and students who travel out-of-Canada to self-isolate for 14 days. All immunosuppressed individuals are advised to speak with their doctor to determine if self-isolation is required;
  • Enforcing strict food handling guidelines in schools;
  • Cancelling all events with an expected attendance of more than 250 people, which includes spring concerts, and award ceremonies. Graduation banquets and ceremonies are under review; and
  • Suspending all athletic school sports teams from playing.

For further details and guidelines, please refer to the March 13, 2020, parent letter.

Recently, the Government of Canada also has recommended that all non-essential travel outside of Canada be cancelled. Please make sure to check the Government's travel advisories for up-to-date information.

Thank you for your continued support. As developments unfold both globally and locally regarding COVID-19, RVS will provide ongoing updates.
